Amboseli Elephant Conservation Project

 

Help protect a threatened population of elephants when you volunteer with our Amboseliamboseli elephants, volunteer Kenya, volunteer in Africa, Volunteer Amboseli Elephant Conservancy Project Elephant Conservation Project in Kenya.

In this unique conservation project, volunteers work closely with an elephant research team and local Maasai tribesmen to monitor the movements and behavior of Kenya’s threatened elephant populations.

Over the past 30 years, poaching, hunting and habitat loss have caused a precipitous decline in Africa’s elephant population, especially in the area of Kenya’s world-famous Amboseli National Reserve. Our partner organization at Amboseli works to protect these endangered elephants through research, education and community development.

As a volunteer you will spend most of your time in the bush, tracking and monitoring elephant movement, group size, physical characteristics and behavior. You will be trained to locate elephants and other wildlife by reading the landscape and by using GPS technology.

As a volunteer you will:
Monitor elephant movement and behavior
Track and record the number and location of elephants and other wildlife species
Assist community game scouts with data collection

Qualifications: No qualifications are needed.
